Adamantia...My Story

Food has always been at the center of my life.

I was raised in a Greek family where cooking was how we showed love, welcomed guests, and kept traditions alive. My parents owned The Sugar Bowl, a luncheonette in New York City, and my Uncle Pete owned The Spartan Restaurant in Queens, so hospitality was part of our family story from the beginning.

My love for baking began in my Yiayia’s kitchen.

One of my favorite memories is of my Yiayia hiding trays of sweets in secret places before my Uncle Paul came to visit. He was dearly loved, but everyone knew he loved to eat. Years later, I found myself doing the very same thing.

Holiday Baking at Home

Every Christmas and Easter, my sister and I helped her make traditional Greek sweets like Kourabiedes, Koulourakia, Finikia, Baklava, and Greek bread. Those holidays were filled with flour on the counters, trays of pastries, and the unmistakable aroma of family recipes baking in the oven.

Tradition

As I raised seven children, I carried those traditions into my own home. Holidays became a family effort, with everyone helping, gathering, and sharing food made with care.
Today, I continue that tradition by making Greek specialty treats from the recipes and memories passed down through my family. Each batch is made with the same love, warmth, and attention that filled my Yiayia’s kitchen.
